Riding safely to school
Many children enjoy riding their bicycle or scooter to and from school and it’s a great way for you to join them to stay active.
Teach your child to be a safe rider by:
- always wearing a correctly fitted helmet – it’s the law
- riding on the footpath keeping to the left and giving way to pedestrians
- always supervising children under 10, adults are allowed to ride on footpaths with children under 16
- being responsible to store their bike securely, in the bike racks located in front of the orange COLA
Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
Parking safely in school zones
Kiss and Ride
A reminder to please ensure you follow the road rules for Kiss n Ride to ensure the safety of all community members. Ryde council regularly patrol the area and issue fines.
- it is a drop off / pick up zone - stay in your car
- if you are coming into the school you must park in the local streets
- stay in the queue and don’t drive ahead and jump the line
- you must exit kiss n ride via Victoria Road - do not make a u-turn
- students must enter/ exit the car from the pedestrian side
In the mornings, we encourage you to arrive 5-10 minutes early (anytime after 8:30 am) to avoid traffic.
Please also ensure that you park in the streets only. We have had numerous complaints from apartment buildings about parents parking in their visitor spots.
Thank you for your ongoing diligence with this matter.
